On the eve of Independence Day, a solemn opening ceremony of a new comfortable school for 600 pupils in one shift was held in Yenbekshi Dikhan village, Sauran district, Turkestan region. The facility was built within the framework of the national project ‘Comfortable School’, implemented on behalf of the President of the country Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. This was a long-awaited event for the villagers, as in the only school designed for 300 children, about 800 pupils had to study in three shifts.

The school's opening ceremony was attended by Oblast Akim Darkhan Satybaldy, teachers, children and their parents. The head of the region wished the students success in their studies and emphasised the importance of the national project.

‘On the initiative of the President, the country is implementing the Comfortable School national project, under which modern new-format educational institutions are being built. This project makes it possible to solve the problems of emergency and three-shift schools, as well as to eliminate the shortage of pupil places. This year, 29 comfortable schools with a total capacity of 17,800 places are being built in our region. We will continue to support the education sector,’ Darkhan Satybaldy said.

The school was built by Nysh-Yer LLP. The new facility was completed ahead of schedule - in 11 months instead of the standard 18 months.

The area of the building exceeds the standard figures by 20%, which made it possible to arrange specialised classrooms for inclusion and sensorics, as well as separate and comfortable rooms for speech therapist, social teacher and psychologist. In addition, there are co-working areas for primary, middle and high school students, as well as for teachers. Every square metre of the school's space is used as efficiently as possible.

Special attention is paid to students' digital literacy: the school has a robotics room and a STEM-lab where children can consolidate the knowledge they have learnt in lessons. The school grounds include universal sports fields and play areas adapted for different ages.

To date, about 400 students have been enrolled in the school and 40 teachers have been hired. Acceptance of documents from residents of the nearby village of Orangai continues. The educational process will start from the third quarter.

It should be reminded that Turkestan region is most acutely feeling the deficit of pupil places in the sphere of secondary education. For this reason, within the framework of the national project ‘Comfortable School’ the largest number of schools - 29 - is being built here. The project will create comfortable conditions for 45,800 pupils for quality education and development in two shifts. By the end of the year it is planned to open more than ten objects, two of which have already been put into operation. The remaining schools will be commissioned in 2025.
