Building materials plant in Astana will reduce imports from Russia, China and Finland
In September 2023, a plant for the production of roofing and cladding materials will start operating in Astana.
The implementation of the project will cover the need of the domestic market for roofing and facade materials, which were previously imported from Russia, China and Finland in finished form.
The construction of the plant began in October last year and is progressing without delay. 30-40% of the equipment has already arrived. The next stage in accordance with the schedule will be commissioning.
“We plan to start production of the first building materials in mid-September 2023. The assortment will include roofing materials, fiber cement board and facing materials, which are integral components in the construction of any building,” said Maulen Aimanbetov, Chairman of the Board of SK Construction, who on June 15 inspected the progress of construction.
The plant will provide jobs for 70-90 people.
“Our main goal is to replace imports and demonstrate the potential of local production. The capacity of our plant will be 600 tons of aluminum profiles, fiber cement panels - 70 thousand square meters, painted fiber cement panels - 27-30 thousand square meters," said Maksat Saduakasov, General Director of MetalFormer LLP.
The plans also include the construction of a similar plant in the city of Almaty and the Almaty region. In these regions, the production capacity will be higher, and the materials produced at the plant will last from 20 to 50 years.
