Tokayev opened a plant for the production of roofing and facing materials in the capital city
The domestic enterprise will provide permanent employment for up to 100 people and will also reduce imports of products from Russia, China and Finland.
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the grand opening of the plant for the production of roofing and facing materials in the capital. MetalFormer" enterprise is located on the territory of the special economic zone "Astana - New City".
The Head of State highly appreciated the potential of the enterprise. The plant is capable of producing 7.2 thousand tons of aluminum profiles, 1 million m2 of laminated and painted fiber cement panels, 800 thousand m2 of roofing and facade materials per year. 93 jobs have been created at the enterprise.
Construction of the plant began in September last year. The amount of investments is 5.2 billion tenge, of which 4.2 billion tenge (80%) was invested by Samruk-Kazyna Construction JSC within the framework of investment activities. The remaining 20% are funds of MetalFormer LLP.
As the market analysis shows, in 2022 in Kazakhstan produced about 440 thousand m² of roofing and cladding materials, while imports amounted to 9.3 million m² for 16 million US dollars.
Advanced equipment and three production lines will allow the new plant to cover the majority of the market with domestic materials. The plant's products will be supplied to the domestic market and will replace up to 15% of imported aluminum profiles and up to 40% of imported roofing and fiber cement panels. It is planned that the materials will be used in the construction of civil, administrative and industrial buildings.
The plant to produce domestic materials was launched as part of the import substitution development program. Local production of construction materials allows to reduce not only dependence on imports, but also the cost of a square meter of housing.
