The national project ‘Comfortable School’ is aimed at creating a modern educational environment that meets the requirements of the digital age. Samruk-Kazyna Construction, being the single operator of the project, has identified access to high-speed Internet as one of the key elements in developing the concept and standards of comfortable schools. This corresponds to the initiative of the head of state to develop digital technologies in education and creates conditions for the integration of modern educational platforms into the learning process. Kazakhtelecom JSC is engaged in the implementation of this task, applying advanced technological solutions to connect educational institutions throughout the country, including the most remote regions.

To ensure stable and high-speed Internet connection in comfortable schools, GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology - an advanced system of passive optical networks - is used. It allows to provide Internet at speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s, ensuring reliable and fast data transmission without loss of quality. Among the main advantages of GPON are high bandwidth, the ability to connect a large number of users through a single optical line and network stability even under high loads.

Under the Comfortable School project, 217 schools are planned to be built, of which 105 were delivered in 2024, and 75% of them have already been provided with FOCL (fibre-optic communication lines). Another 112 schools are planned to be built this year, which will significantly expand the opportunities for Kazakhstani schoolchildren to access digital educational resources.

More than 240 km of fibre-optic communication lines (FOCLs) have already been laid under the National Project. The works continue in accordance with the approved schedule, and in 2025 the company will continue laying new lines to connect the remaining schools.

However, the implementation of such a large-scale project is not without difficulties, especially in remote rural areas. The main difficulties are related to geographical peculiarities, such as difficult routes for laying FOCLs, as well as administrative issues requiring approval of land plots for infrastructure construction. To overcome these obstacles, Kazakhtelecom JSC closely co-operates with local executive bodies, promptly solving emerging issues and selecting optimal technical solutions for each school. These measures are aimed at creating a safe and modern educational environment where pupils will be able to acquire knowledge in comfortable conditions using the most advanced technologies.

‘Kazakhtelecom actively participates in the implementation of the national project on providing comfortable schools with high-quality Internet. We apply modern technological solutions, such as GPON, to guarantee high speed and reliability of connection. Even in the most remote regions of the country we find optimal ways of connection, providing schools with stable access to digital educational resources’, - noted Samat Tuganbayev, Chief Technical Director - Director General of the Association “Network Division” - branch of Kazakhtelecom JSC.

Alibek Indykbayev, member of the Management Board, Director General of the Division on corporate business - branch of Kazakhtelecom JSC, stressed that the company is ready to continue implementing strategically important initiatives aimed at increasing the level of digitalisation in the sphere of education. He noted that Kazakhtelecom JSC actively cooperates with local executive bodies to introduce modern digital technologies, including cloud video surveillance systems in schools. According to him, successful implementation of these projects became possible due to well-coordinated work of the team and effective interaction with construction companies and Samruk-Kazyna Construction.

Thus, connecting comfortable schools to high-speed Internet is an integral part of the modernisation of Kazakhstan's educational system. The use of advanced technologies such as GPON, the introduction of various digital services, and the creation of a full-fledged digital infrastructure - all this makes education more accessible, safe and efficient for thousands of schoolchildren across the country. However, only technological solutions are not enough for successful implementation of these initiatives - a systematic approach to construction and equipping of schools, which is provided by Samruk-Kazyna Construction, plays an important role. It is at the design stage that modern standards of digital environment are laid down, allowing each new school to be not just a place for education, but a full-fledged intellectual centre adapted to the requirements of the future.
