The MetalFormer plant will provide permanent employment for up to 100 people and will also reduce imports of products from Russia, China and Finland.

The plant to produce domestic products was visited by the Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna Construction JSC.

Maulen Aimanbetov was shown the production technology of fibre cement panels. The plant will be able to produce up to 75 thousand m² of fibre cement panels based on wood per month. Such products are considered environmentally friendly, as they are produced without the use of asbestos.

Fibre cement has many advantages over other traditional materials such as wooden siding: it is resistant to moisture, weathering, fire and insects, as well as elastic and durable. It is also able to withstand a temperature range from -50 to +50 degrees. Its service life is more than 20 years. However, Aimanbetov instructed to increase it to 50 years by improving the technology of production and coating of the panels.

The MetalFormer plant is located on the territory of the Astana-New City special economic zone. In addition to the FTP, the enterprise will be able to produce up to 7.2 thousand tonnes of aluminium profiles, up to 2 million m² of cladding and up to 1.5 million m² of roofing materials per year.

Market analysis shows that in 2022 Kazakhstan produced about 440 thousand m² of roofing and cladding materials, while imports totalled 9.3 million m² worth USD 16 million.

Advanced equipment and three production lines will allow the new plant to cover about 20% of the market with domestic materials. It is planned that the products will be used in the construction of civil, administrative and industrial buildings.

The construction of the enterprise started in September last year. The launch is scheduled for September this year. The project was realised in a very short period of time - 1 year. Often, the discussion of such investment projects alone takes more than a year.

The amount of investments is 4.2 billion tenge, of which 3.4 billion tenge (80%) was invested by Samruk-Kazyna Construction JSC within the framework of investment activity.

This is another significant contribution of the joint stock company to the implementation of the import substitution development programme. After all, thanks to local production of construction materials, not only dependence on imports is reduced, but also the cost of a square metre of housing.
